Embedded

I am an embedded journalist with Charlie Company, 7th Battalion, 158th Aviation, a medevac unit based in Salem, Oregon. As a Medevac Unit these soldiers will perform rescue missions from point of injury and ambulance exchange points, transfer of patients to higher levels of medical care and other rescue missions.

There are over a hundred civilian soldiers in this unit leaving their homes, families, friends and jobs. They also are leaving a community that has depended on them for mountain rescues and other search and rescue missions. As one soldier put it, Oregon will miss us and we will miss Oregon. 

I will report on these men and women throughout their 400 day deployment on www.kval.com, a local station in Eugene, OR.

I will also keep this blog up to date on my personal activities while in Iraq.
